A very nice light gray 998 Mini is now on BaT.   Lots of money spent on the interior, but somehow no tachometer.

Good points Dave.  Human nature is... well, can only be explained by the phrase "human nature" I guess.

In the meantime a new Mini has popped up on BaT.  Since it's more modern than recent Minis I wonder how it will do?

Sold for $17,300. Surely this could have been higher if the seller was more responsive and had presented the car better. With just an hour remaining in the auction (!) a picture of a cleaned engine bay finally showed up, as did a start up video and a driving video.   Talk about a seller asleep at the wheel!

One Mini auction completes, and another one is started within the hour.  Here's the latest.

The 13 inch wheels and sports pack flares seem to attract a lot of attention – most of it seems typically to be from non-Mini people - so I think this will do well.  It's a Sprite and not a real Cooper.  But that shouldn't matter to most bidders.

And now a Mk I Cooper is on BaT.  I know this car, and I knew the owner too.  Unfortunately he passed about 6 years ago and the subsequent owner is now selling it. This car was a vintage racer before it was recommissioned for road use.  I love everything about it other than the sunroof.

This is now the second Mini appearing on BaT whose owners I knew, but who have since passed away. Both cars were genuine 1960s Coopers. Really does remind me that after surviving this long, these cars will go on and on until the next caretaker takes over.

A very nice restored English Moke is now on offer.  Big money will be paid for this one I think.

Sold for $37,750.  A good price but still a bit of a bargain I think.

Bruce,

Do you remember or know what may have happened to the "Mini Specific" trailer Grover used for his race Mini?  Picture 146 from the BaT listing:

No I don't know.  When I last spent time with Grover at the All British Car Day in Dallas (in 2015 I think it was) he had driven his Mini to the show.  I remember being pretty impressed because I believe he was 83 years old at the time and he dealt with the heavy  Dallas traffic in the Mini. But then again he was a former racecar driver!

Perhaps contact the BaT seller and see if he has the trailer?

A Clubman estate is now on BaT in the very 1970s shade of brown.  Looks nice.  1250cc?

That looks really nice, I'll be interested to see how high this one goes compared to what I sold Buzz for a few years ago.

Most of these clubby wagons seem to go for around $20K, which seems like a lot, but I guess that's where the market has gone.

I'll never understand why people bid these way up on the first day.....like somehow getting their licks in early counts for something?

I would put a set of those small wilson picket arches on it and call it good

Reserve not Met at $28,750.   I'm guessing the reserve was $30k perhaps?   Commenters complained about the non-originality of this Mk I, but had it been an more original 998 Cooper it wouldn't have gone that high I'm thinking.

Yeah, here is one of them.   Early regular production Mk VI Rover Mini Cooper.  It's said to be a JDM model but it is LHD and has no air conditioning.  So, that's a bit different.

This is on BaT listed as a Mini Van but it's obviously an estate.  Comments are already pointing that out but the owner had to have approved the auction text?   I don't understand some people.   Doesn't have an A-series under the bonnet.

There is a lot to like with this van, a lot of well done stuff in it - Aussie doors are expensive and hard to find....

I'm guessing the fuel cell took the area the spare tire used to sit in.

Can't wait for a driving video, but I have to say listening to the ITB's the whole time you drive can get tiresome - glorious under hard acceleration.....but then just going down the highway? And no air filter?

This nicely restored and unmodified Mini 850 sold for $30,000.  Wonder if the new owner will keep it long term or sell it on after a year or two like the last owner?

Well, a $7K return on a $23K investment in one year is a pretty good deal - but I agree. I wonder what will happen in a year. IIRC, this car came from Mike Malamud's stables.

Now for something interesting - BaT has done $1billion in sales from Jan1 - to Sept 22! Staggering......more than twice as much as the big established auction houses.

No wonder they can be so picky about the cars they list for sale.

It is an interesting path they have followed. It would be interesting to see a sales price comparison... is BAT averaging a higher sales for similar cars than the auction houses? I know BAT send out some statistics, but I have never looked closely.
My sister sold a B-GT when it really was "bring a trailer," they would never accept that car now.
