Another Mk I Mini is on BaT now.   But this time it's an estate.

Looks similar to Craig's newest Mini!

A pretty ratty Mk I Cooper S has popped up on BaT.  Needs a lot.  But at no reserve.

Still, being a Mk I and apparently a genuine S, it will definitely find a home for some serious money.

Fair price imo, buyer must be pleased as reserve was met at $13k.

The white S is going to Ireland, probably a lot less rust than what is available over there.

The red 61 850 sold for $23,750 US and is staying in Canada, considering he is a Canadian seller that is good money around $29,450 Canadian.

A Mk I Mini just popped up on BaT.   Seems to be Matoon B, a color not seen much any more on Minis these days.

What is it with people thinking red is an accent color for maroon.  My car was the same way.  The list picture looks purple, but some of the other pics and the description says maroon.

It did not disappoint and sold for a healthy $36k.

OK, that was confusing.....it was the Moke that sold for $36K, not the little white wagon.  8.gif

Result was Reserve not Met at &18,500.    I can understand why the Reserve would greater for a Mk I.   Maybe it was $20K - $22K?

Maybe the color killed it?

Yeah, I guess it's not for everyone. But at least it was not another red mini with the white roof.  Something different.

A Moke from Oz is on BaT.   Wonder how it will do compared to an English one?

I agree the burgandy colour was a put off, amazing he has driven it 13,000 miles with the 4 sub frame tower bolts missing.
I have owned UK Mokes, Australian and a Portuguese one and the Aussie ones with their slightly longer wheelbase and tall 13 inch tyres are my favourite.
My last Aussie Moke would do 80 mph at 4k revs with 185 60 13's GPS verified.

New Mini on BaT.  A JDM one that's missing bumpers and has a roofrack and a 998.  Can't see this one going too high.  Maybe $10k - $11K?

Edit: the import paperwork shows the purchase price was under $2800 (!).  So either the buyer got a real bargain, or maybe the importer lied to the feds and falsified the customs paperwork.   In either case, some mental gymnastics are needed to justify a 300% or more increase over that for bidding.

Yeah, didn't say I liked it......   ;D

If you all remember Buzz had a big ol black tongue sticking down in front too, which I immediately binned.

It's funny how unfinished the rear looks with the lip there and no bumper.

And what's with people spelling it bumber now? I see that all over the interwebz these days...it's not like the p and the b are right next to each other on the keyboard or sumthin......

Seems to have some interesting modifications, but has avoided basic maintenance.  Weber carb and cross drilled brakes, but the rubber boots on the steering rack are split and rear cones look like they are on there was out.

On photo 102, I can't decide if that is bad filler or they painted over some left over insulation.

Ultimately I would be reluctant to buy it as the VIN number is not accurately represented on the paper work, but a lot of minis have that issue.

One of the brake rotors is badly scored, either it's down to the metal on the pad or they stuck in a new set and didn't bother to machine the rotor......any way you cut it it will need brake work too.

The best thing I can say about it is that it doesn't seem rusted, and the body looks original, but the resell red respray didn't do it any favors, with over spray everywhere and lots of Edd China's satin black on everything else. This is definitely a "spritz and flip" car.
