That seems like a LOT of money for a rusty Catalina Moke, unless there's some historical value to being one of those cars?

Try about 1/20 the asking price as that one is good for only the title & VIN - needs a complete new shell, has no subframes, no interior bits of any kind, no electrical, no tank, etc. - too much missing to list.

I watched the youTube linked in the facebook post and it is basically the rotten shell, the old bumpers, a very questionable steering rack, and possibly a defunct 850 engine good as a boat anchor.

I sold a Moke body like that for $200 back in the 90s.  I know we have incredible inflation right now, but $10K is crazy.

The last 2 mokes that I stripped to a bare body I gave away. I didn't want to hear any bitching about they overpaid. Of course they didn't have vins either.

gr8kornholio

Reminiscent of the Mopar craze of the early 2000's where people were asking 50k for a similar cuss shell because the vin said at production it had a hemi.

Think it happened 3-4 years ago with broncos.  Some place in Cali was buying anything with a vin for 20k cause they were redoing them and selling for well over 100k.

SO many interesting cars and other things for sale on BaT today!

This cool little Italian minibike...   https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1970-fantic-broncco-tx7-2/

This bare bones, 29K mile, bottom of the line Corvair with a three speed manual gearbox! I thought they were all 4 speeds, I guess when you're buying the el cheepo version you only got three  https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1969-chevrolet-corvair-3/

This incredibly stylish moped!  https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1961-victoria-spoetnik-50cc/

This really cool 1946 ERCO   https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1946-ercoupe-415/

2 huge HMMV's, one on the east coast and one on the west

This gorgeous looking old (new) Indian Chief  https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2020-indian-chief-vintage/

An old McCormack Farmall Cub, and THIS - Kurt Bilinski's Midlana. 538 hp mid mounted Honda engine in a custom built state of the art chassis, total weight with driver about 1650lbs! Plus, if you want to build one for yourself, for $100 you can buy the book that details every step, every weld, every nut and bolt and all the design and engineering drawings so you can DIY a copy! I followed this build for years as I first found him when I saw his previous build, another Honda powered mid-engined car called Kimini, built with a carbon fiber classic Mini body.

This auction of classic cars in the UK just popped up on YouTube. And I spotted this altered Mini.

I really don't understand the appeal of these shorty modifications.   But neither does the market apparently - just bid to £4200.

Yes. This is sort of the opposite of the shorty Mini above.

A Mk I Mini limo.   And if you've ever wondered what a MG 1100 grille would look like on a Mini, here's your answer.

QuoteThis limousine was built for the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Mini at Goodwood, where it is said to have provided transport services for none other than Lord March himself – the owner of Goodwood and now styled as the Duke of Richmond.

With seating for five, plus the driver, this unique vehicle has been used as wedding transport and would make a great addition to any fleet of hire vehicles.

That is going to be a whole lot of rusty sill to replace at some point.

MPlayle

Anyone else notice that limo has functioning external hinges on roll-up window doors that normally use internal hinges?

94touring

That's got to be hell on those hinges.

BruceK

The Mini limo was bid to £9600.  I wonder if someone is looking to actually drive it or display it?

That's a very rare Mini.   The only one I was aware that still existed was at the museum in Gaydon.

Not to be confused with the fiberglass Minis made in Venezuela a couple of decades later: the MiniCord.

Here's a umm, ahem, 1891 Mini, oops I mean a 1981 Mini for sale.  Ultra high price of just $160,000.  I'm sure it's here totally legally.  But you do have to wonder how the price was determined.

Clearly they did a lot of work to the car, and it appears to be well done......but 160k? If I am spending that kind of money on a car there are a lot of other options that would end up in my garage over a 1980's mini.

BruceK

Assuming that's the correct number plate, M165 UAU, on that car, it's nowhere near a 1981 car.  MOT history says it's a 1995 car. Which could be legally imported of course since it's more than 25 years old. So why the BS about it being a 1981 car?

What it is, isn't.  Now on BaT, a pickup made from a Mini estate, but it appears to be done very well with what looks like genuine pickup sheet metal.  Shame about the sidemarker lights which never appeared on any pickup (or estate).
