Title: Manifold Studs
Post by: tmsmini on March 24, 2022, 10:12:55 AM
Is it advisable to use anti seize on the studs where the nuts screw on?
What about some sort of loctite on the other ends that screw into the manifold flange?

The manifold gets too hot for locktite to hold, even the red version melts at about 400*, I double nut the stud to tighten it into the manifold.

If you're going to use antisieze use the copper stuff as its higher temp rated, I just use brass nuts, however those studs are metric and I haven't seen any brass nuts in metric.....but if you can find them they won't rust/corrode to the steel studs.

Edit: a quick search shows plenty of brass nuts in metric sizes - I noticed Porsche uses copper nuts on their exhaust sytems

I found brass nuts when I installed the engine. There is some special name for the nuts used from the factory. It is almost a flange nut, but they rust/seize terribly.

Do you use a lock washer with the brass nuts?

No lock washers, just flat washers
