Title: Sumpguard?
Post by: Whee on January 10, 2022, 06:37:49 PM
I'm looking for a sumpguard for one of my Mokes. I'm more interested in function versus appearance. I have an off-road track that I sometimes take the Moke on hauling ranch equipment. I have cleared it of big stones etc, but it's always possible one will appear. Thus the desire for a sumpguard.

I have a pallet order coming from Minispares soon, so they would be my preferred vendor as shopping cost will be much less.

Thoughts on the 3 they stock? Or is there one out there so much better from another vendor that I should get that instead.

Thanks!

Thanks, I missed that one.

I love the "Oil filter can be changed without removing sumpguard." That alone puts this one in the lead. Is it solid enough to take a 30mph rock hit?

I took the steel one off my Portuguese Moke which was very heavy but was well equipped to do the job.
I have the aluminium Monte Carlo type one you listed above to install but have not got around to it.

Yeah it could take a beating no problem.  I have 2 other solid steel sump guards sitting out back that weigh a ton, have less ventilation, and are in the way for oil changes.  I didn't need to build it into a tank by using those other guards, just needed something to provide protection since my mini is so lowered.

Dan. don't we still have the solid one we took off the Inno? That one was heavy but I think it would stand up to a land mine!

Yeah it's somewhere around the shop.  This is an original inno sump that we replaced that other one with.
