In response to BruceK; I had an R53 (Cooper S). I ordered it new in '06, waited 12 weeks to take delivery, thoroughly enjoyed it for over 7 years and 113,000 miles of nearly trouble-free daily and long distance driving. It was nothing short fantastic. I was thrilled to have the last year of the Mk.1's, before BMW started to inject steroids into the mix.

And BaT now has a Mk. I Cooper S from Canada.  It's a 1275 and has some rust, so it is being sold as a "project".

The S seems like a pretty unmolested car it should do well on BaT.

I don't disagree at all.  I'm just amazed there seems to be an endless supply of buyers willing to pay big, big  bucks for genuine early Coopers.   Nothing against the that.  But wow.

It must be Mini week on BaT.
Now a 1971 Morris Mini K basically a Australian Cooper S but a whole lot nicer than the 1971 UK Cooper S.
It has some interior mods and with some nice engine mods too.

There's an early Mk. I Mini on BaT and nobody, not even the owner, knows the engine size.  It's not a 1275.  This auction seems to be a magnet for comments...

Would look so much better without the very '80s air dam.

The 61 de seamed MK I sold for a healthy $13,000.

Yes, interesting Mini.  Too bad a rare one like this has been converted to LHD.

Easy enough to convert back to RHD which I would do if I owned it as I can't seem to get comfortable in a LHD Mini.
Not a show car but has all the right stuff to be a good daily driver.

Bryan's supercharged blue Mini is back on BaT today, and has already attracted some bids.....I hope he gets a good price out of it.

Well Bryan should be happy as his supercharged Mini sold for $25,750.

MiniDave

That was a good result....the guy who bought it has plenty of money based on his other BaT purchases, and is a former SCCA racer, so I think the car went to the right guy. He lives in the PNW so the car should have plenty of road time in the future.....I told him maybe we'd see him at MMW in Vancouver next summer - assuming they hold it.

The red/black Canadian Cooper S project bought $26,500 with a rnm.
I honestly thought it would have sold for that figure especially as it is a project and $26,500 is roughly $35,350 Canadian $.

MiniDave

Yeah, I thought that was ALL the money for a project like that, but worse cars have gone for more including some that don't even run!

Another rnm at $16,750 on this Aussie Mini K with a Se7en ent 1330cc engine.
I thought this one would have done better.

This pretty original Mk. I Cooper S was only bid to $26,500 and reserve was not met.  Based upon the crazy prices of other 'original' Mk. I Cooper S models recently, I would have thought this would go a lot higher.  Perhaps there is a limited number of people who want to pay premiums for an early Cooper S...

Went through a budget refurb at some point...well 1990 I suppose.  Easy car to turn into something nice but I don't suspect it will pull much in the auction.

Jimini II

Less than two days to go and only at $6,800 this one may be a RNM.
I am sure the shade of green along with other things is not helping the sale but a running and driving early mk I should be doing a lot better than this one currently is.

A late model Cooper is now on BaT.   For some reason it's been converted to LHD, and the badging is all mismatched.   But it looks like a nice car that should bring some bids.

Looks like a bitsa to me. The "welding" and filling of the new front wings is awful in fact there is a work order for correcting cracked filler on the wing, the gaps are terrible with over spray everywhere.
The vin plate is held on by one rivet all the flares are filled in and bonded to the body which is just asking for trouble if they are not welded on metal flares.
This car has had a rough UK life.

A nice-looking Mk. I has popped up on BaT.  This is a plain Mini in a Cooper S wrapper, and it seems to be a good car.  I like the color - not seen too often. The interior is a bit different.

But here is another car being shown without really any decent underbody shots.  Gee, I wonder if a potential buyer will ask for them?   :-[      My guess, assuming no revelations about any problems, is that this Mini will be bid into the upper teens.  Maybe even break into the low 20s?
