Here's a nice Mk. I Cooper S on Hemmings.    Lots of modifications, including a rear wiper.  Seems priced kinda high to me.  But maybe not considering the prices paid for other, non-running Mk. I Cooper S cars lately?

Another Mini offered on a BAT auction:

This one used to live in New Zealand and has a some very unusual rust.     Well, actually, it's regular old rust, but it is in an unusual place.

My guess is that it will sell for $7500.

I saw that.....did the other two on BaT sell yet?

Just checked, the Leyland 1000 is at $3800 with 5 hours to go, so we'll see where it finishes up around 3 this afternoon....

I noticed that really nice blue Cooper S at Mecum Jim posted did not sell at $34K....a buddy in Va was bidding on it, I guess it crossed his limit.

It just sold for $7,300 with a lot of bidding activity at the end.    Seems to be a very good place to sell.

BAT is featuring one of the limited edition ERA Mini Turbos, which is offered for under $30K.

Not everyone's cup of tea, but a significant model in Mini history.

Wow, did you see how crowded that engine compartment is with the turbo and A/C? Yikes!  :-\

I tried to buy one of those out of Canada aboot 10 years ago but could not get it into the US due to the 25 year rule - I had a 27K car for just over $10 grand......

Yeah, the engine bay is a nightmare. But at least there is the simplicity of no computer/no fuel injection.

A car like this for $10K would have been a great deal and very tempting.

The Canadian one didn't have A/C, and was left drive so it was a bit simpler......not much tho. It was bright red too!

So they offered a diesel in the Metro? Makes sense that they would in Europe but I had never heard of it.....

I don't know why but these wheels look awful on that car - I've seen plenty of 13" wheels that look fine on a Mini (my car has them too) but for some reason these don't.

They used a Peugeot 1.4 diesel in the later Metros, not very powerful but 50 plus mpg all day long.
Those wheels look like they are being used with wide spacers as the offset is not that wide, i guess that is why he is using massive mudflaps as well.

MPlayle

Could the wide stance be dictated by the front suspension?  If the whole setup from the diesel Metro was transferred, did it have a wider track then the Mini, thus requiring the rear to be spaced out to match?  (Kind of like many of the Honda motor transplants.)

MiniDave

Most of the Honda transplants use stock Mini suspension, so the track is standard, they may use disc brakes that use wheels with a wider offset and stance.
