Ha,  I remember having a good laugh on a day early in December while in Tampa   , looking out the window to see a young guy in a sock hat and scarf.....it was in the 60's.  I am not laughing since we left though....now I am the one freezing my ass off when it gets below 70.

In the spirit of showing MINI thermometers, just have a look at this photo I took in the summer - it should warm you right up.

Where is Condo?   Indeed, I have a good beat on many of the craft breweries down here. If you ever find yourself down here or heading this way let me know.

Or the 118* we saw in Phoenix - at night!
Indeed.  I'm still trying to figure out who thought it was a good idea to build a city there.

I vacationed in both Palm Springs and Phoenix in June years ago, both times the daytime temps were in the 100's. I went for a morning run in Phoenix (I was into running then) and it was 104 out and I never felt bothered by it. I honestly thought it was delightful, all that heat and no humidity.

I would take a 105-110 day with low humidity in Phoenix any day over 95 and 100% humidity here in Florida.

We had a weak something blow through last night, temps are still in the 80's but the humidity is noticeably lower.

Kind of looking forward to some cooler temps. We are still running AC in office and house at the moment, could run in car too, as long as you are moving it is tolerable.

I hear you.  But I learned from Dave's son (who lives there) that Phoenix often has both high heat, and the dreaded humidity too.

We were there during "Monsoon season" when the humidity get to be in the dreaded 50% range. We laughed, everyone was complaining about it and we thought it was an amazing break from Florida where it feels like you walk outside into a a wall of water most times.

So.... you're saying the perception of humidity was...um... relative?

Tearing down a rotary engine that I blew up.  Also had to rebuild my turbo as it caught a chunk of apex seal on the turbine blades.

I love how simple these engines are.

Here is a pic of my engine, notice the pulley where the airpump used to be, had that made so a stock belt could be used and the water pump would never slip.

My burned up engine, hit 280° and I continued to drive it, I knew it was toast, I was at a track day and I just said hell with it, and kept driving it all day burned up. I drove it to the shop to pull the engine and have it rebuilt and it would still turn sideways in second gear.

New housings, you can  see the exhaust port work. We basically opened them up to match the turbo manifold openings, so there was a smooth transition and no steps to disturb the flow.

Old burnt housing, you can see the exhaust port better.

I had my engine doweled, which stiffens it up and makes it much stronger and able to handle more boost, I could have pushed this engine way over 24PSI but never tuned over 18 PSI, I build for a lot and ran a little.

I am not sure if this was a before or after pic, compare to your housing.

This is the old side iron with a mild street port, my aggressive street port hit the water jackets and we had to seal them back off with JB Weld.

A pic of the engine going together. Notice the water jackets by the spark plugs, we learned that from some clever Aussies. The grooves would creat more surface area and make a tumble in the flow to help dissipate hot spots. The housings are notoriously hot right at the spark plugs.

I need to dig into an old portable hard drive I have I should have some detailed pics of the porting.  I am sure there is a ton of info on RX7club too.

If you are patient anyone can port these engines. Just have to have a steady hand and good grinder.

The Flywheel I was telling you about SR Motorsports 9.5# go as light as you can find, I never felt a loss of drive ability from such a light flywheel, all I did feel was a MUCH more responsive engine.

Pretty sure I have a mild street port.  My exhaust is opened up but not as much as yours, same goes for the end plate.  Curious if you have pics of the center plate.  If you could find good info on porting send it my way.  I'm tempted to buy a set of templates from banzai racing.  I need to add the idler pulley where my smog pump was.  They took it off and never added it, however I don't have cooling issues so I dunno.

Jims5543

Gonna dig into the portable drives this weekend. See what I can find.

On the back back back burner is an E30 restoration. Mostly a good paint job and some mechanical TLC.

My son stole the seats out of it, I got him a Christmas present, something he has wanted for years. Most in the BMW world know the E36 M3's had some really amazing seats in them. I scored him what are called Vaders for his E30. So he can now give me back the interior for the 325IS we are going to restore.

Just need to figure out how to get them from Charlotte NC to here.

jeff10049

sweet seats Jim, I'm looking forward to the 325 restore.

I scored something myself today a $1,600 john deer snow blower for $800 the paint wasn't even worn off the augers, tires still had tits.
I wondered why such a deal but it all seemed good so loaded it up got home didn't seem to blow all that well got to looking 1 side auger sheer pin was sheered 50 cents and 1 minute later it's a beast I'm betting they sold it because it was not performing well.
went right through 24" of snow to almost bare ground in one pass. I might be able to drive the 2004 mini again now it has been buried for a week. Even had the countryman and my 4wd truck stuck last week.

This morning I saw this guy hanging about again....funny, when I do see him I never see any squirrels cavorting about as I usually do, and the bird feeder is also eerily quiet!

Right after I took this pic he zoomed off to the neighbor's tree......

Dave - We have a Falcon that hangs on a bridge here scoping the surroundings it is so majestic, much like that one.

Jeff (my fellow Chiver) my dad had a beast of a snow blower with a 10HP Briggs in it when I was a teen, he got it the same exact way, someone was selling because it was "broke" for nothing, he purchased for the engine alone and discovered the pin was sheared. Replaced and we were the porn stars of the neighborhood.  We could throw white stuff around like Ron Jeremy.

Is it Monday? It must be Monday? Because today was a fucking Monday.

Mike (my oldest son) is on his way to the office, since he typically works late and hates mornings he starts around 10 AM which I am fine with, since his overlap helps me a lot in the afternoon / evenings.

Today at 10 a.m. Mike was on his way in, we are inundated with snow birds here, Mike is trying to make a left turn but the old fucks are all crawling down the road with no regard to the people who are trying to get somewhere.

In a fit of rage, the moment Mike could finally get by some old fucks in the left lane doing 10 MPH up to a Red light he downshifts and screams by.

He hits the left hard, light turning yellow as he approaches, he hits the crest of the road (it is big I have been air born going over it in my RX7) and it kicks his rear end out, he tries to turn right to turn left but too much momentum is in action and it is too late he is ballast.

He flies into the curb.... his E30 is too low for cub work, the result is devastating to the car.  Pics to follow.

Mike loves two things in this world, his E30 and his dog Dr. Gonzo, Dr. Gonzo goes pretty much everywhere with Mike, to work to family gatherings on vacation he is as much family to us as Mike is.

When Mike hits the curb, the car jerks up in the air in a violent reaction to the clashing of metal to concrete smashing together.

Mike looked over at his buddy, Dr. Gonzo to see him fly up in the air and land on the seat, the moment the car came to a stop, the good Doctor was out the window and beating cheeks down the side of the road.  Mike tried to restart the car then realized it was fucked. He jumped out and gave chase.

Some asshole Trump supporting world police asshole pulled over to the side of the road, and "apprehended" Mike, he screamed "Get on the ground!!" and motioned like he had a gun in his waistband.

He called the police and told them he was apprehending a hit and run suspect.  Which was a lie.  Mike was the only car involved in the accident.

Mike hit the dirt, like a good white person instead of drawing gunfire, fearing for his life at this point.

The police arrived and asked him to get up, the asshole in the beat to shit pickup got in his truck and left. (we will find him)

Mike asked if he was not going to get shot anymore and they said no.

They frisked him, and then filled out a police report on the accident.

Dr. Gonzo was gone, we looked for him all day form 10:00 until 2 PM then again at 3PM (armed with flyers) with reinforcements coming.

We were pretty sure he was in a subdivision adjacent to the accident.  I had to tend to business at the office then was back out at 4PM, to meet Mike and his cousin, Mrs5543 was en route with my younger son and my cop friend Matt was on his way with his GF as well as about 20 other friends of Mikes to help find the good Doctor.

Then at 4:10 Mike got a phone call someone in the subdivision saw Dr. Gonzo, Mike took station at an exit, I was at another exit point and the cousin was driving laps around the neighborhood looking. It was in moments Dr. Gonzo was spotted, he was basking in the sun relaxing in the middle of a yard. Cousin got out of his car, Gonzo looked at him, he opened the passenger door and said "C'mon Get in!" Gonzo ran over and jumped in.

It was a VERY emotional day for all of us, Mike and I were in tears in the office when meeting up to form a game plan.

Not sure if the car is totaled plans are already being laid to get "Cock and Balls" the name of the 325is (it is written in sharpie under the hood by a previous owner) back on the road stock for now.

Then we will ascertain is the 318is is salvageable or if we will be stripping it of its engine and junking it.

On to pics...

I think the oil pan needs some JB weld and it  will be fine:

This is the concerning part, the fender is pushed back the passenger door is hard to open, we may be fucked here.

I am wondering how fucked the mounting points are:

... and the exhaust is falling off...

Dr. Gonzo is pooped, knackered after an adventurous day on the lamb...

Damn that sucks bad, I see a broken steering rack as well but from photos it looks fixable. Im glad gonzo was ok and was found. His dog reminds me of our mutt, (Megan) aka Lady Douchbag she goes everywhere with me as well. Almost died a few weeks ago was paralyzed one morning never found out why  after a week at the vet and week of home care full recovery.  I hope you find the arse hole that pulled the arrest shit I have no idea what to do about it but I'm sure you'll figure it out ;D

jeff10049

Dave, We have a owl around here and the critters know when it's here haven't got a good pic yet.

MiniDave

I'll bet that hawk has a 10 ft wingspan - he's huge when you see him in flight!

I was being sarcastic when I said that about the squirrels being absent....  ;D

A few hours later after he'd left they were all back again......I don't mind if he poaches the tree rats, we have far too many of those around here - I say "good hunting"! We used to be concerned for our little Poos, but that's no longer an issue.....

I mentioned a friend that is a cop, he already showed me the call in from the asshole. I am calling the local Sheriff for some face time to discuss this gu and how dangerous he is and how we can find him and have a talk with him. I have a lot of info I cannot show here. I pretty much know who this asshole is and I am going to fuck up his world a little.  Because he deserves it.

He is pseudo threatening people with a gun, if my son had his CC this could have turned ugly fast. I asked my son directly did he see a gun and he said no just motions he had a gun which when dealing with police gets you bullet holes.  Not sure why this would differ with civilians.

I have a goal to fuck up this guys life, mostly because he stole 6 hours of my life I did not have to give right now. Hence instead of snuggling with Mrs5543 in bed I am on a laptop drafting right now.
