In upgrading from the traditional Lucas inertia starter, I could do these Minispares offerings....a Powerlite GXE1004 High Torque starter or the GXE1004R which costs more but has a reinforcement  for 3rd bearing support.

On the GXE1004 will this starter move or work loose or cause problems down the road since the bearing is not supported upon engaging the flywheel ?

Is the GXE1004R too much starter for a road car ??

Unless you're running really high compression, you don't need anything better than the standard starter motor. Save your money for something else.....

my 2ยข and worth exactly what you paid for it!  ;D

My '89 has one of those high geared starters, I'm not convinced it does anything that the regular one doesn't already do - sounds different tho....sounds kinda like a Honda when it cranks.
