Here's the latest car to enter the shop . This will be a full build top to bottom.  MiniDave will be doing the engine.  More pics and details soon.

The back wheel look like it's rubbing on the fender opening?

The hydros are flat.  Most likely going with coilovers.  You'll have to update me on your setup and the pothole situation with various bushings.

Good luck with the resto, completes are tough as you have to plan for the last steps right at the beginning to avoid going backwards. Just got done with a 1071 not that long ago.

Yeah never easy and hard to predict!  Car looks great!

Wow, the 1071 looks awesome!  Great job!

Some current panels blasted.  Flip front metal is good as is except the bonnet was attached less than stellar and has some significant low spots, so I'll put a new bonnet in.  Problem I'm currently having is buying just a skin, as I don't need the guts, that doesn't cost a small fortune in shipping.  Looking like buying a knockoff mk3 bonnet and cutting off what I don't need will be what I do.

MiniDave

Clean metal is so much nicer to work with isn't it?

Plus it looks pretty.  Tempted to just clear over it!

So, how does the body look? As bad as expected or maybe a little better?

Virtually nothing wrong with it actually.  A panels are a little sketchy is it.

What is/was the bracket in the fender well for?

94touring

Looks like an overflow bottle bracket to me.  Or a place to hide beer.

tmsmini

Amazing how much room there is in there. I have windshield washer bottle on one side and expansion tank on the other.

For a body design that utilizes available space so well, it's kind of amazing how much (relative) space is unused up under a Mini's front wings.

Onto some sealer primer topped with filler primer.

MiniDave

Is it just the lighting, or is the roof a little "denty" ?

Just the lighting.  Its pretty straight actually.

Is the owner getting excited to see the progress?

What color will it be, back to BRG?

will it be getting arches?

I haven't talked to him in awhile but need to call him soon.  It will be paint matched to his brg 2015 mini.  Pretty sure we're doing arches.

94touring

Ha so it's definitely straight now.  Spent the day skimming low spots.  Main body is just about ready for paint.

How about some more picture of the progress.  FYI the color match should be to a 2016 MINI cooper S (BRG II Metallic B22 code). Yes on the flares. Last we talked you mentioned you were going to look/ride at coil overs -did that happen?  I think I will go back to twin SU's & get rid of my webber 45 setup. Suggestions? Also I got a new LCB header set & before I send it out for coating I need you to put in the O2 bung (for tuning the su's - right). I have some time off the next 2 weeks so if your available...
