So, anyone planning to go to MMW this summer?

Since I sold Buzz I'll be meeting up in Oklahoma City with a friend from Texas and we're driving out together in his 2002 Cooper S towing his 1988 Cooper. I've managed to find a few of my friends from "back home" but unfortunately in the 20+ years I've been gone a few have passed on - I guess that happens when you're already an old fart.

However I'm really looking forward to the trip not just to be back in my old 'hood but also for the adventure and fun of seeing all these cars and their enthusiast owners - should be a blast.

We're heading out Fri the 4th from OKC - see you  there if you're going!

We're on our way.....

1st pic is where we met up at Dooder's house in OKC, next is somewhere in New Mexico after our first night's stop in Tucumcari, last was where we stopped in Payson, almost to Phoenix, where we are tonight. Tomorrow we'll be out of this 118* Phoenix heat and into balmy Sandy Eggo!

The car has towed along flawlessly, tho it can tend to wag the dog if we're going really fast and get hit by a cross wind - then it's just a matter of slowing down a bit till it settles down again. We took it slower in the mountains, it was a pretty hard slug going up those 6% grades on the way in to Phoenix, and even tougher going down them, but we just took our time and eased on into town.

Tomorrow we'll hit the last stretch of mountains and then across the south end of the desert and down to those cool ocean breezes, where we'll meet up with the rest of the Miniacs as they arrive at the host hotel.

More as it happens!

Two quick stories...

Tucumcari.  My ex flight doctor died in an air show there doing a square loop.  I've flown in there in a seneca.

Payson.  I almost crashed there once.  My most amazing death defying takeoff ever was in Payson in a piper arrow.

I'm glad you survived both!

We'll be heading out on our final leg to San Diego shortly, it's supposed to only be 115* here today, but I'm ready to leave this heat - now!

Cool pics!  My wife was just back in San Diego last week.  It reignited her love of California.  50.gif  Be sure to post a lot of pics of the event.
